Dr. David Lightbody
Managing Editor of Scribe magazine
Dr. David Ian Lightbody has served as Managing Editor of Scribe magazine for the American Research Center in Egypt since 2023. Originally trained as a professional engineer, he developed a deep interest in the history of monumental architecture and later returned to the University of Glasgow to complete a PhD in archaeology. He has conducted excavations and surveys in the Eastern Mediterranean region and has taught courses on Ancient Egyptian history and temple architecture at the universities of Glasgow and Vermont. He was the founder and Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Ancient Egyptian Architecture until 2019.
Dr. Lightbody is a member of the International Association of Egyptologists and the Association for Preservation Technologies. He works in the northeastern United States in stone monument design, survey, restoration, and fabrication and continues to research and write on the history of monumental architecture in Egypt and beyond whenever time allows.
