Sara Shalaby
Sara Shalaby is the Metadata Specialist at the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). Shalaby’s work is geared toward ARCE’s latest award from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), as part of their Humanities Resources and References Program. Her role is pivotal in facilitating the online publication and dissemination of ARCE’s unique archival content. Shalaby earned her B.A. in Psychology and Anthropology from the American University in Cairo. Her passion for social and cultural inquiry, knowledge production, and the investigation of the ways in which our pasts inform our present will aid her role in creating mindful metadata for researchers and non-specialists. Previously, she was a research assistant at the AUC journal, Cairo Papers in Social Science, where her responsibilities included facilitating the expansion of the journal’s network by means of creating a robust data collection infrastructure.
