SCRIBE is the American Research in Egypt (ARCE)’s exclusive bi-annual magazine for members and subscribing institutions.
SCRIBE keeps our readers informed about events in Egypt and in the United States, and each issue includes fully illustrated excavation reports prepared by archaeologists, epigraphists, and conservation experts working on Antiquities Endowment Fund (AEF) projects in the field.
SCRIBE contains reports from ARCE’s various chapters throughout the United States, updates from partner institutions, reports from ARCE fellows, members, and employees, news from the Annual Meeting, and other important social and cultural events relating to the Egyptian cultural history, conservation, and research. It also keeps members informed about ARCE’s financial position, and our current board membership.
Since 2018, the magazine has been published bi-annually when it took over as ARCE’s primary society communication from the Bulletin of the American Research Center in Egypt. The Bulletin was a glossy, full-color newsletter sent out bi-annually and it had in turn succeeded the ARCE Newsletter, NARCE, in 2001. NARCE began publishing as a quarterly news sheet in 1951 and continued for over 179 issues. At its inception, NARCE was distributed as a black and white typed publication.
