ARCE Cairo Center Hosts New Lecture Series

The ARCE Cairo Center is hosting a new lecture 3-part series, "Introducing Islamic Cairo." The series will explore and examine Islamic Cairo through the PowerPoint presentations of Dr. Tarek Swelim (www.tarekswelim.com). He will show different animated maps, illustrations and photos of the city, relative to its history and architectural masterpieces. This lecture series is not a survey of the Islamic architecture of Cairo, but rather will focus on understanding the great metropolis. Dr. Swelim's aim is to introduce Islamic Cairo to foreigners as well as its local citizens. He will try to provide a better understanding of its glorious times--having been a capital of a great empire for over 650 years.
