I am pleased to announce that Karim Seikaly will be joining ARCE as its Business & Finance Director, effective April 3, 2017. He will be assuming the responsibilities of ARCE Chief Financial Officer Kathann El-Amin, who will be retiring effective April 30, after more than 10 years of outstanding and dedicated service to ARCE.
Karim comes to ARCE from Conservation International, where he served as Finance Manager. He was responsible for donor billing and reporting of all public funds from USAID, the World Bank and various U.N. and multi-lateral agencies. Karim is also an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where he teaches Finance & Budgeting for Arts Organizations. He has two Masters of Arts degrees from George Mason, in Arts Management, and International Commerce & Policy.
Prior to working at Conservation International, Karim was a Regional Accounting Manager for the Middle East and North Africa Division at the International Republican Institute. As part of effective and dynamic teams, Karim ensured that accounting and financial regulations were followed in various countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Libya and Morocco. He also served as a Director of Finance and Operations at leading not-for-profit organizations in the Washington Metropolitan area.
Karim is experienced in developing and implementing operating and program budgets as well as managing capital renovation projects. He brings a strong background in business and finance as well as working and living experience in the Middle East. He is fluent in Arabic, French and English. Karim is excited to join ARCE during its transition to Washington D.C., and hopes to make a lasting contribution to ARCE's mission.
