In response to rapid increases in tourism at this popular site, ARCE recently concluded a training workshop for Supreme Council of Antiquities inspectors (conducted by Naguib Amin) in December 2007 and January 2008. Following on a successful first training course in 2006, the subject of these most recent sessions was information panel writing for the Medinet Habu temple complex.

Fifteen inspectors were seconded from the SCA and spent six weeks discussing the signage needs for Medinet Habu, where there are currently no signs, and then developing 25 information panels. The program was conducted in Arabic and the texts for the signs written in Arabic. These have been translated into English and the next stage is a follow-up workshop in which the trainees evaluate their work to assess the needs of the site and its visitors.
